Legion of Kittens Siege Strategy
There are a few strategies for fighting Sieges, these are generally dependent on the number of members and level of participation and communication within a guild. For Legion of Kittens, our current policies in this event are as follows:
GENERAL
1] The period for a guild to join the event lasts from Tuesday until Friday. Usually, we join on Wednesday.
2] On Friday the system will select an opponent for us to compete against based on our rank.
3] Siege matches are on Sunday.
DEFENSE
In preparing for Siege events, we use a two-phase method that is more complex than most other guilds.
PHASE 1
1]
Every member is assigned to a tier group based on their legendary and mythic card count.
2] Our first task is to evenly divide each of these tiers between each of our islands on the Siege field. This insures that each island is approximately as strong as the others, and we have no easy targets. Almost all the guilds we face in Siege matches will have intel that breaks down our islands by their defender's card counts, so this is important.
3] Orders will be issued that include players of the same tier located on the same island, and one or more destination islands. If you are listed in the members of the orders, you should move to the target and leave a note in the guild chat stating which island you moved to. Leaving a note is necessary to prevent more than one player listed in the same order from duplicating your move. These orders are not options; do not defer or rely on another member; execute the order. Do not move freely on the Siege field. Finishing Phase 1 quickly allows more time to improve our infrastructure in Phase 2.
PHASE 2
1]
During Phase 2, members may swap islands with other members in the same tier group as themselves via the guild chat. Requests should include the current location of the requestor, and the names of the members in the same tier as the requestor that he/she is interested in swapping with. See which tier group you are in on our Siege Defense map.
2] Island balance is more important than being located on a preferred island.
3] Note: Players that join a guild after the guild has signed up for the Siege event are assigned by the system to Island #1, which may cause an imbalance on that island, so all members should be prepared to relocate in order to maintain the defensive balance.
The Siege Defense map is an indispensable tool. (It does not update automatically.)
OFFENSE
1] Generally, we attack the enemy islands according to Siege Intel gathered from the recruitment UI. Opponent islands are given a value representative of the estimated amount of work required to destroy them based on their defendants legendary and mythic card counts. Usually this coincides with their number of Health Points (HP) in ascending order, starting with the island with the lowest HP. Each destroyed island scores a bonus 1000 points.
2] Members will be given a choice of two or more enemy islands to attack, based on HP, member's suggestions, and observation of enemy positioning. If a member does poorly against one island they should attack the other.
3] Announcements will be made in the guild chat during the event instructing which islands are to be targeted. These instructions will be updated as the battle progresses - as islands are destroyed or it becomes apparent that a targeted island is too difficult.
4] A member can always wait until later in the Siege event to fight, provided they will have the chance to fight all 10 of their assigned battles.
5] Note: Attacks on a destroyed island score as usual, but the bonus is awarded only once.
